All Municipal Councils are entrusted with the responsibility of providing essential public services to citizens. Following the 74th Constitutional Amendment, the responsibilities of Urban Local Bodies have significantly increased. Accordingly, the Citizen Charter outlines the key functions of the Municipal Council along with time-bound service delivery standards to ensure that citizens receive basic civic services efficiently and transparently.
The Citizen Charter issued by the Municipal Council covers various public services, including street lighting, transportation, sanitation, road maintenance, drainage, collection of taxes and fees, veterinary services, disposal of dead animals, and other time-bound civic services. It serves as a commitment to inform citizens about the standards and timelines for the delivery of these services.
